FAQs about LED Video Wall Certification

What is the P rating on LED walls?

The “P rating” on LED walls refers to the pixel pitch, which is the distance in millimeters from the center of one LED pixel to the center of the next adjacent pixel. This measurement is crucial because it directly impacts the resolution and optimal viewing distance of the LED wall. A lower pixel pitch (e.g., P2.5) means the pixels are closer together, resulting in higher resolution and clarity at closer viewing distances. Conversely, a higher pixel pitch (e.g., P10) indicates that the pixels are farther apart, which is more suitable for viewing from longer distances. The choice of pixel pitch depends on the intended use, viewing distance, and resolution requirements of the LED wall.

What do you need to run an LED wall?

Running an LED wall requires several components and considerations to ensure smooth operation and optimal display quality:
LED Panels/Modules: The basic building blocks of an LED wall, these can be assembled into a larger display.
Controller/Processor: A device that processes the input signal and translates it into content displayed on the LED wall. It plays a crucial role in managing resolution, scaling, and sometimes the layout of the content.
Power Supply: Adequate power supply units are essential to power the LED panels. The requirements depend on the size and number of panels.
Mounting Structure: A support structure or mounting system is needed to securely install the LED panels in their desired configuration and location.
Cabling: Proper cabling for power and data transmission between the panels, controller, and power supply.
Content Source: A computer, media player, or another source of digital content that will be displayed on the LED wall.
Software: Depending on the system, specific software might be required for content management, scheduling, and customization of the display.

Which is the best LED video wall manufacturers?

Several manufacturers are renowned for their quality and innovation in LED video wall technology. While “the best” can vary based on specific needs, budget, and application, here are some leading manufacturers:
Samsung: Offers a wide range of high-quality LED video walls known for their innovation and reliability.
LG Electronics: Known for their cutting-edge technology and excellent image quality.
Barco: Specializes in professional-grade LED solutions for various applications, including entertainment and corporate.
Leyard and Planar: Recognized for their fine-pitch LED video walls and custom solutions.
Absen: A leading global manufacturer known for its reliable and versatile LED video wall products.

What is the difference between LED wall and video wall?

The terms “LED wall” and “video wall” are often used interchangeably, but there are distinctions:
LED Wall: Specifically refers to a display made up of direct-view LED panels or modules that emit light directly to create images. LED walls are known for their brightness, contrast, and ability to form seamless large-scale displays, suitable for both indoor and outdoor environments.
Video Wall: A broader term that can refer to any large-scale display made up of multiple screens or panels. This includes LED walls but also encompasses other technologies like LCD panels. Video walls made from LCDs have bezels (borders) between panels, which can interrupt the image, unlike the seamless nature of LED walls.
While all LED walls are video walls, not all video walls are LED walls. The choice between them depends on the specific requirements of the project, including the environment, viewing distance, resolution, and budget.
